How to JoinAberdeen Bach Choir is especially keen to recruit new singers. Currently, there is no audition process - an ability to sing in tune is the minimum requirement! Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact the Secretary, Anne Wilcox - 15 Cliff Park, Cults, Aberdeen, AB15 9JT Tel: (01224) 869276. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings (school term time) from 7:30-9:30 pm, usually in the hall of St. Margaret's School for Girls - 17 Albyn Place, Aberdeen. The first rehearsal for the concert in December 2008 will be held in St Margaret's School at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 19 August. Prospective new members will be made very welcome. Please arrive early (doors open at 7:10 pm) to allow time to collect music and pay subscriptions. If paying by cheque, please make your cheque payable to Aberdeen Bach Choir. The yearly subscription for 2008-9 is unchanged at £50 or £25 (concessions). Students are free! There is no music hire charge for the December concert. On the weekend of performances (normally on Sunday evening in St Machar's Cathedral), the usual practice is to have rehearsals with orchestra and soloists on the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Members are expected to participate in all rehearsals (those missing more than three rehearsals must ask permission of the Musical Director to sing in the performance). For concerts, men are must wear a dinner-suit, white shirt and black bow tie, while women are must wear sleeved, ankle-length black dresses (with jewellery kept to a minimum). We like to think of ourselves as a friendly choir, and if you make yourself known to one of our Committee members (the Secretary is likely to approach any new faces), we will ensure you are introduced to someone who sings the same part as you, to help you fit in quickly. Your section representative is your first point of contact. Section representatives
