On Sunday April 29th 2012, Aberdeen Bach Choir will be performing Bach’s mighty St Matthew Passion.  This performance will take place just over 100 years after the work’s first performance in Aberdeen, also in St Machar’s Cathedral, on 2 April 1912.

The work will be sung in its original German. Aberdeen Bach Choir with St Margaret's School Chamber Choir will be accompanied by the Aberdeen Sinfonietta and there is a star studded line of soloists:

Evangelist – Nicholas Mulroy
Christus – Henry Waddington
Soprano – Emma Kirkby
Counter Tenor – Michael Chance
Tenor – Malcolm Bennett
Bass – Alex Ashworth

The performance will be given in two parts – the first part starting at 3:00 pm and the second part starting at 6:00 pm.

Tickets are now available online, by telephone and in person from Aberdeen Box Office (tel 01224 641122) - £15 adult, £10 concession, £5 students, under 16s free. You will also be able to buy tickets through Choir members. This performance is likely to sell out and there are no plans currently to sell tickets at the door on the night - please buy your tickets early to ensure entry.
